CLAIRETTE RosE 2021
Rare & modest variety
Vin de France Blanc

This wine is produced on terraces along the banks of the river Lergue from a varietal selection carried out between 2005 and 2007, the basis of which was several Clairette Rose vines scattered among the vines of Clairette Blanche. This is an extremely uncommon variety; there would only exist a few hectares in France. I might very well be the only grower to possess it in Languedoc !

Soil : rounded stones & gravel with some red clay.

Grape : 100 % Clairette Rose

Harvest : late September or early October

Production : 40 à 45 hl/ha on average

Vinification : direct pressing, alcoholic fermentation followed by a spontaneous malolactic fermentation.

Maturation : ageing in tanks for a few months. Natural decanting thanks to cold winter temperatures.

Bottling : at the winery without fining or filtering.

Eye : limpid with pale yellow hints ; a slightly pink reflection.

Nose : dominated by white flowers and white fruits.

Palate : it is freshness itself, sharp, fruity and easy to drink. White flowers, white fruits with a pink grapefruit finish…

Ageing capacity : should be drunk young.

Serving temperature: chilled (8-12°C).

Food & wine suggestions : this wine is a perfect companion to apéritif but also salted pies, shellfish, white-flesh fish and sushi...

It can also be enjoyed as “apéritif” or simply for the fun of it.
